WRESTLING

Under the watchful eye of Mr. Scodellaro, a few boys began training for the wrestling season. Lack of interest could be blamed for the small turnout but regulars Tom Glasford, Ed Ackworth and Ralph Doner could be found on the gym balconies each night.

The team started competition with a meet against Danforth Tech in late November. The Jarvis Powerhouse easily defeated Danforth only to lose to them three weeks later. The
next clash came at the West Hill Invitational meet where Jarvis came sixth out of about twenty schools.

To end the season the three journied to London to the Ontario High School Campionship on March 6. Ralph Doner (last year's champ) came third over all (of course it was the pressure of grade 13 that kept the trophy from him.) The group would like to thank Mr. Scodellaro for his time and trouble.

SLAVE DRIVERS

How many times I have heard: "Oh Boy! Is that coach a Slave driver!" This may be, and at Jarvis this is probably true (I know personally Mr. Watt was a hard man to please). If this is so then I say: "All the better". Jarvis has been more than successful in all forms of athletics in the past few years.

This success can be attributed in most part to its "lunatic fringe" THE COACHES. It's men like Mr. Thatchuk, Mr. Pearle, Mr. Minardi, Mr. Hill, Mr. Sellers, Mr. Humphries and Mr. Scodellaro that have given Jarvis their time and energy to help boys in sports.
If these men are not slave drivers, they should be. For, as all athletes know, only hard work can bring perfection. Jarvis has been known for its near-perfection in football, basketball, swimming, gymnastics and other sports this year and in years past.

A great deal of credit goes to our slave driving coaches, hard as they may be. The sports staff would like to thank the various people who give their time, energy and above all their patience to further sports activity at Jarvis.

Photograph ATHLETE OF THE YEAR 1963-64

Don is one of the really active athletes at Jarvis. Besides quarterbacking the Senior Football team last year, he played Senior Basketball and was active in the gym-team. This year he again quarterbacked the Seniors, and continued with the Senior Basketball squad.

We hope that Don continues his athletics for his future schools so that he may prove to be as much of an asset to them as he is to Jarvis.
