GIRLS' ATHLETIC COUNCIL

As president of the G.A.C. I would like to extend to Miss Stinson our thanks for all she has done in the girls' sports. She was always ready to give assistance in anything that the G.A.C. participated in. Again, Miss Stinson, may I express from all the girls in the G.A.C. our thanks for your assistance.

The major activity of the G.A.C. was G.A.C. night which was a grand success. The girls on the G.A.C. team, dressed as "Rockers", opposed the chosen few of the men teachers, dressed as "Flappers", in a game of broom-ball. Of course, the girls lost, but I must add that the men teachers had a slight advantage being dressed as they were.

At the beginning of the evening both girls and boys participated in volleyball, ping-pong and badminton. The evening ended with dancing. Thank you to all those who attended and made G.A.C. night the most successful yet. The second major event was Play Day. At the end of each year the G.A.C. sponsors a Play Day and every girl in the school is invited to attend.
This year, various activities were provided for the girls, and because of the huge turnout everyone enjoyed themselves. After terminating the activities, a banquet was provided for the girls and in the lunch room. Each curator introduced her sport and gave out the various awards which the girls had worked hard to earn. Throughout the banquet the 1965-66 cheerleaders were announced by Mr. Jewell and Mr. Haist. Congratulations to those girls who were chosen.

This year I had the pleasure of working with a very efficient and thoughtful group of girls on the G.A.C. Every sport went well and the girls deserve more thanks than I can express. Thank you girls for a successful year!

Although the girls work very hard to make their sport a success, without a dedicated staff adviser their work would be in vain. This year we were lucky to have four such staff advisers. Miss Lane assisted in swimming, basketball and ping-pong. Miss Elton assisted in volleyball, basketball, badminton and baseball. Miss Salter assisted in gymnastics every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:00 o'clock, and Mrs. Whittaker helped Miss Lane with swimming,

Again, thank you very much teachers for your assistance in sports and your unrelenting as- sistance to the G,A.C.

Ada Lawrence
