W. Wilson W. WILSON, B. Comm.

This year Jarvis is happy to welcome Mr. Wilson to Minerva's teaching staff. Mr. Wilson is teaching Geography to grades 9, 10 and 11.
Born in Toronto, Mr. Wilson attended U.T.S. and then went to the University of Toronto where he took a course in Commerce of Finance and a degree in Chartered Accountancy. After leaving the U. of T. Mr. Wilson worked for the Ford Motor Company for two years and then went to Summer School for two years. Before coming to Jarvis, he taught at Royal York Collegiate.
A married man and father of two children, Mr. Wilson's hobbies include travelling, photography and all kinds of sports, especially golf and baseball.
Mr. Wilson feels that the students of Jarvis are easy to get along with and co-operative and that the staff is friendly.
Welcome to the staff, sir, and the best of luck in your teaching years at Jarvis.

G. Stephen G. STEPHEN, B. Eng.

Mr. Stephen, whose dynamic "shirt-sleeve and coloured chalk" teaching technique has made math a lot less bewildering for many grade 10, 12 and 13 students, is at Jarvis for his first year.
Though he suggests that he is one of those teachers with "frightfully dull" lives, Mr. Stephen's life leaves a lot to admire. Born and educated in Montreal, Mr. Stephen graduated from McGi11 University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Having spent five years in a not undistinguished career in civil engineering, (he helped direct the construction of the power dam at lake St. John in Northern Quebec, and of a papermill in Tennessee). Mr. Stephen "changed his mind", attended O.C.E., and began teaching at Humberside C.I. Somewhere, Mr. Stephen managed to find time to get married. After seven years at Humberside, he came to Jarvis.
Mr. Stephen is interested in golf -- but, as he put it, "Spare time? I've got two little children -and they don't leave much!" He is a firm believer in homework, in debating as a mental exercise, and the "new" math.
Among his recollections of Montreal, Mr. Stephen tells of his experiences in Hugh MacClennan"s history class -- "There was a good teacher . . . he tried to make you understand why something was." Perhaps, there is Mr. Stephen's own secret of success.

M. Elton MISS M. ELTON, B.A.

This year Jarvis is happy to welcome Miss Elton to our staff. Born in Long Branch, Ontario, Miss Elton attended New Toronto Secondary School before going to Neuchatel Junior College for her grade thirteen. From there she went to the University of Toronto, Trinity College for her B.A. in General Arts, majoring in mathematics. She is teaching grades 9, 10 and 11, physical education and grade 10 mathematics. She also assists the G.A.C. in volleyball and swimming. But this is no chore for she enjoys all sports, especially tennis. She also likes the theatre, in particular ballet and plays.
Although Miss Elton's future plans are indefinite, she feels that Jarvis students are very lively, which for us, is a good sign. Miss Elton, we all hope that you will have a long and pleasant stay at Jarvis.
