We are happy to welcome Mr. Johnston to our teaching staff this year.
This talented young teacher comes to us from O.C.E. He previously attended
Queensway Public School; then he went to no less than five different
schools, the last of which was Lorne Park Secondary School in Port Credit.
From there he proceeded to Queen's University in Kingston where he received
his B.A. in Mathematics and in Economics. He now teaches Mathematics
to grades 11, 12 and 13, and physics to grade 11. His hobbies
include sports of all types and drama in general. Mr. Johnston can be
found after school in Room 101 where he holds his extra math and physics
classes. He likes the school and its staff, and he said, "The students'
discipline is generally good but their attitude is often one of laziness and
apathy." Once again, sir, we welcome you to Jarvis, and we hope that
you will have a pleasant and rewarding stay with us.

H. MEDLAND, B.A.
This year Jarvis adds to its staff a dedicated man. Besides being
a teacher, Mr. Medland manages to pursue other interests such as banjo
playing and bird-watching.
Every morning his bright cheerful voice can be heard throughout the new
wing. At this point the students know that they should hurry to class because
Mr. Medland has started to read the Magnet.
Mr. Medland received his elementary and secondary school education in
Oshawa. He then spent three years at Ryerson, graduated, got a job at
C.B.C. and worked there for another three years.
Not satisfied with his already high achievement he decided to return
to school and become a teacher. To do this he attended Queen.s University
for three years. This year he is teaching English to grades 9, 11 and
12 and history to grade 11.
We, the students of Jarvis, wish Mr. Medland a long and successful
career here.

E. C. SCODELLARO, B.A.
This year we welcome to our staff Mr. E. C. Scodellaro, who came to
our school after teaching for two years at J. F. Ross Collegiate and Vocational
Institute.
Mr. Scodellaro (part French, Spanish, and Italian) was raised in Schumacher,
Ontario near Timmins. He attended Schumacher High School where
he participated in most sports, excelling in hockey, football and track and
field. During his college years he jostled along the halls of Queen's and
Western Universities, the latter of which he thinks is the best socially,
academically and athletically. About his social and academic life. he declines
to tell, but the athletic aspect was revealed. Mr. Scodellaro was an
intercollegiate wrestler and hopes to coach our school wrestling team in the
near future.
His interests include all types of sports and he relaxes by
studying philosophy and psychology. He also enjoys extensive travel. Mr.
Scodellaro follows the Christian philosophy of life and recommends others
to follow it. but stresses the fact that one must understand what it means
before following it. He is also a firm believer in the 3-5 code of well-
being and living - Social, School and Sports.
Teaching grades 9 and 11 mathematics and grade 11 physics. he finds
that at Jarvis there is a good relationship between teachers and students.
Here at Jarvis. we hope that Mr. Scodellaro will have a long and
pleasant stay.
