This year, as in the past, the Jarvis Drama Club was under the able direction of Mr. Mackenzie.

Members began the year with organizational meetings and progressed to playreading sessions, in preparation for their forthcoming season.

The Drama Club made its debut at the Christmas assembly where they presented an adaptation, by Michael Thomas and Brian George, of the "Twelve Days of Christmas". Their presentation was a great success, indicative of the group's efforts throughout the year.

The Club's next production was Anton Chekhov's, "The Marriage Proposal," which
was entered in the Simpson's Collegiate Drama Festival. The cast included Kathy Kertez, Fred Jones and Brian George, with Lynn Gates as prompter, all of whom were well received by the audience and the adjudicators.

In February, members of the club helped celebrate the Parliament Street library's tenth anniversary with a Shakespearean recital, which included excerpts from "Hamlet," "Twelfth Night," "Julius Caesar" and "The Taming of the Shrew."

J.C.I. also participated in the annual Verse Speaking Competitions, and was represented by Sharon Morris. Our versatile Drama Club enjoyed a most productive year, and we hope that the members will continue to grow in stature and further their creative endeavours.
