JUNIOR BASKETBALL

Under the watchful eye of Mr. Thatchuk the Junior Basketball team started after the championship they had narrowly missed last year. So successful was their start that they beat all opponents. Riverdale and Danforth Tech. were the first to succumb; Eastern Commerce and Castle Frank soon followed in the footsteps of defeat at the hands of Jarvis. Lawrence Park (that seemed to be playing more hockey than basketball) lost to an unbelievable score of 39-8.

After the 42-21 defeat of Malvern nothing looked powerful enough to stop the Bulldogs - but disaster was waiting at Monarch Park. The strong 'Parkers overcame Jarvis 19-24; and were responsible for the morale deficiency that caused the loss to North Toronto the following week.

After this humiliating defeat Jarvis bounced back to trounce Northern and Riverdale to end the season with an 8-2 record and in third place.
The third place finish entitled Jarvis to enter the quarter-finals. The first game of the two game total-point was held at home. A sell-out crowd saw Jarvis defeat Central 43.33. As Central returned to their home ground the tide turned and Jarvis lost 47-29; a small eight point margin over the two games.

STATISTICS:
- 8-2 season record. - best total points - Dany Scott -123 (both in only 11 games)
- Jock Stewart - 113
- best shot - Dany Scott (33% of team points)

The team wishes to thank Mr. Thatchuk for his help, understanding and above all his patience.

HOCKEY

Through hard work, patience and a great team effort, the Hockey Team came up with a one hundred percent improvement over last year. The event was a senior clash with Northern. Wally Glavas finally sank the puck into the opposition's net after two attempts at 15:26 of the second period. Ian Hickson and Chuck Wakefield combined well (as they always do) in the second period as Chuck fed Ian a carrom pass and Ian flipped the puck past a rather stupefied Northern goalie. Although Northern scored as the end drew near, Jarvis held them to an unprecedented victory, incidentally the first win for the BULLDOGS in two years.

Great team effort was again shown in the Riverdale game. The BULLDOGS seemed to be down as the Dales led 2-1 and 4-1 at the end of the first and second periods. However reliables Al Watte, Bob McKinnon, Wally Glavas and Ed Guthrie returned the onslaught by scoring four goals to tie Riverdale 4-4.

Three goals late in the Monarch Park game enabled Jarvis to squeak through with a 3-3 tie. This amazing feat gave Jarvis two ties and one win. (We won't mention the seven losses.)

We would like to thank Mr. Thatchuk for his undying assistance. With our progress rate we should be the City Champs by 1968.
